Nyad mission — protecting clean water

Mission & Founding Story

Nyad was founded in 2023 after our team spent years working alongside municipal water utilities and understanding the gap between what modern AI could offer and what operators actually had access to. The tools protecting our water supply hadn't fundamentally changed in a generation.

We set out to change that. Nyad brings together applied machine learning, industrial IoT infrastructure, and deep domain expertise in water quality science to create the situational awareness platform that water utilities have needed for decades.

Our name is drawn from the naiads — the freshwater nymphs of Greek mythology, guardians of rivers, springs, and streams. It reflects our conviction that clean water is sacred, and that the people who protect it deserve intelligence tools worthy of that mission.

What We're Building

The Nyad platform is the operating system for water quality intelligence. It integrates distributed sensor networks, real-time AI inference, predictive modeling, and automated compliance reporting into a single platform built for how utilities actually work.

We're a pre-seed company, which means we're early — but our conviction is deep, our team is experienced, and our technology is real. We're working with early partners across municipal water systems and industrial wastewater treatment to validate and scale what we've built.

What We Stand For

Three principles guide every decision we make at Nyad.

Accuracy

Water safety is not a domain where approximations are acceptable. Every detection, every prediction, every alert carries a confidence score and an evidence trail. We hold ourselves to the same standards as the labs we're replacing.

Transparency

Black-box AI has no place in water infrastructure. Nyad's models are explainable. Operators can trace every alert to the sensor readings and model logic that triggered it. Trust is built through visibility.

Resilience

Water systems operate in adverse conditions — power outages, network disruptions, hardware failures. Nyad is designed to degrade gracefully, store data locally when connectivity is lost, and resume without data loss.
